Colleagues,
After looking for
answers, I am going to post this to the list, because in the past it has been
my best source of information. I have three questions for you:
1- I need to locate
the owner of the Dali painting “Meditative Rose”. I know it is in a
private collection, but how do I go about finding the owner? I called the
2- I need to get a
copy of the above painting for reproduction purposes. I have the OK from the
Foundation. If I am not able to find the owner of the work of art, can I use
any images of the painting (like getting a good copy off the web/catalog)? Or
do I absolutely need to get the copy from the owner? (I am thinking about the
people who sell prints of the work, do they need to get permission from the Foundation
and the owner?)
2- A patron would
like to find out the name of the artist of a work he owns. The subject is
American Indian, dated 1909, oil on canvas with the initials gsw (the s is
larger than the other two letters). Although I do not provide this type of
service I would like to give the patron some resources where he can look up
this information. I do not know where to start. Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you all for
your help. You are a wonderful group. And happy holidays!
