The following exchange with Eve Sinaiko, Director of Publications at
College Art, grew out of a discussion on the CAAH list when someone
asked about donating a 30+ year run of Art Journal.

Yes, by all means--thank you. I almost mentioned ARLIS as another
possible place donors might turn, but I know your resources are limited
and Ididn't have permission to do so. I would also be happy to run free
notices from librarians seeking individual issues of journals when they
have incomplete runs. The need for these has been somewhat reduced by
the arrival of JSTOR and better interlibrary loan systems, but I do
still occasionally get such inquiries.
You probably know that JSTOR has a pilot project to bring the website
and its archives to libraries in the developing world at greatly
reduced prices. That too may, for better or worse, reduce the value of
a 30-year run of a journal. There remain the local school systems that
can't afford JSTOR because they don't have computer terminals. I donate
my own copies of the CAA journals to my local library.
