Hello all, We are planning to move materials into a remote storage facility. Some of the items will come from our general collection and some from need a temporary storage area. the following is a steam of consciousness list of questions we are asking ourselves..... For now we are supposed to come up with strategy for journals. Would we have a cut off date to guide us (e.g. anything published up to a certain date goes into storage?) Are there titles we have in print that are now in electronic form which we are comfortable discarding in print? (e.g. village voice, futurist?) Is there a project we can organize that looks at each individual title. How would we gather the info we need? Assign titles to individual staff to work on? Ultimately, we might need to provide the storage planners with numbers of volumes / linear feet so they can plan the shelving arrangements. We are planning to discard out print indexes, although I am aware that they could function as a back-up if/when the computer goes down, Has anyone else worked on a project similar to this and if so, is there something we haven't thought of? suggestions are very welcomed!! Thanks, Liv p.s. only 10 more work days left til christmas holidays! __________________________________________________________________ Mail submissions to [log in to unmask] For information about joining ARLIS/NA see: http://www.arlisna.org/join.html Send administrative matters (file requests, subscription requests, etc) to [log in to unmask] ARLIS-L Archives and subscription maintenance: http://lsv.uky.edu/archives/arlis-l.html Questions may be addressed to list owner (Kerri Scannell) at: [log in to unmask]
