On behalf of the Southeast Chapter membership of ARLIS, I would like to
thank the Gainevilles, FL, organizers Tom Caswell, incoming President and
Ann Lindell, Secretary, for sponsoring both a stimulating and delightful
meeting in St. Petersburg, Florida this past weekend.
The chapter awarded its annual Mary Ellen LoPresti awards for excellence in
art book publishing in the southeast. The membership toured library- and
art-museum facilities in the city (Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg and
the Salvador Dali Museum). Planning for the Atlanta 2007 Society
conference began in earnest as well as architectural tours and old
friendships rekindled through evening meals. Attendees came from as far
away as Oregon.
Successful meetings from chapters of broad geographical distances such as
ours don't happen without thoughtful planning and hard work. The
substantial attendance reaffirming the vitality of our chapter is always
gratifying.
A tremendous thanks is duly in order.
