Chesterwood, the 1920’s summer home, studio and garden of sculptor Daniel Chester French (1850-1931) is just a few short minutes from the Red Lion Inn. Guests take a step back in time when visiting this 122 acre estate that inspired an artist who inspired a nation. At Chesterwood visitors view working models of the seated Lincoln for the Memorial in Washington D.C. and other noted public monuments, including The Minute Man.

Chesterwood, A National and Massachusetts Historic Landmark, is a historic house museum of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the nation’s leader in saving America’s historic environments.

Directions to Chesterwood

Chesterwood is located on Williamsville Road, 1.5 miles south of the intersection of Routes 183 and 102 in the Glendale section of Stockbridge, MA. Follow the signs from the west end of Main Street, Stockbridge. (See map below.)
From the west, take Exit B3 of the New York State Thruway and follow Route 102 east to Route 183. From the east, take Exit 2 of the Mass. Turnpike and follow Route 102 west through Stockbridge to Route 183. From the north or south, take Route 7 to Stockbridge and follow signs.

Directions from Chesterwood to Hancock Shaker Village :  Follow Route 7 north/20 west to Pittsfield where Route 20 west breaks off.  Take Route 20 west, the Village's entrance is 6 miles on the left.

Hancock Shaker Village, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit educational organization that preserves and presents to the public the Shakers' legacy at their community in Hancock, Massachusetts. The Shaker Central Ministry closed the community in 1960 and sold the buildings and surrounding 900 acres to a group of Shaker enthusiasts, collectors and scholars who formed the not-for-profit corporation that eventually became Hancock Shaker Village. The museum opened to the public on July 1, 1961.

Directions to Ars Libri : We are located in Boston's South End, in the up and coming SOWA gallery district.
Directions: Driving: From the Mass Pike, take the Copley Square/Prudential Center exit, and bear right, following signs to Copley Square. Make the first right, onto Dartmouth Street, and go 3 blocks, to Harrison Avenue. Turn left on Harrison, and continue about 2 1/2 long blocks, to 500 Harrison. Look for our large green windows at the corner of Randolph Street. On-street parking is often available, and there is also a large parking lot for our building, immediately to the left, on Harrison ($5.00 for 2 hours, $1.00 for each additional hour).
Directions: Walking: From the Back Bay Station, go out the Clarendon Street exit, and turn right. Continue walking down Clarendon Street through the South End for roughly 15 minutes (past Tremont Street and Washington Street) to Harrison Avenue. You will see Rebecca's Café when you reach Harrison. Cross Harrison and turn left. Walk 1 block and look for our large green windows at the corner of Randolph Street.
