The Art Reference Library at The Dayton Art Institute has received an LSTA Automation Grant to convert its paper card catalog to an online system. The project requires a Cataloger to perform both copy and original cataloging of materials not handled by the retrospective conversion vendor as well as cataloging a backlog of 500 volumes. This is an 11-month position, beginning November 1, 2005 and ending September 30, 2006. Work schedule is 32 hours/week. Salary is competitive. Responsibilities include: Cataloging library materials needing complete descriptive cataloging and/or assignment of Library of Congress Subject Headings; Classifying library materials needing complete Dewey Decimal Classification System call numbers; Creating OCLC records for cataloged items; Creating item records in the online catalog and linking bar codes to created records; Performing other technical services tasks as needed to complete the automation project.
