Dear colleagues, Ray Anne Lockard kindly directed Stan Shiebert - who is seeking good recent reference books on architecture - to "Guide to the Literature of Art History" in "the new edition by Max Marmor." On behalf of the two dozen art librarians who produced volume two of GLAH, I am most grateful to Ray Anne for directing attention to our book. The chapter on Architecture, expertly compiled by Elizabeth Byrne, Kate Chipman, and Sheila Klos, is, I think, especially good. But I must add that Ray Anne is too generous to me, since I was merely the junior co-editor of GLAH2. The book was the inspiration of my co-editor and friend, Alex Ross at Stanford. And I am as pleased as Alex will (no doubt) be embarrassed that I can take this opportunity to thank him publicly for letting me play a role in producing such an important art reference work. Cheers!
