Position:               Curator of Visual Resources
Classification:         Full-time Professional/Administrative

Responsibilities:
The Curator of Visual Resources is responsible for planning, managing and
evaluating the services and collections of the Visual Resources Center in
the Department of Fine Arts.  The curator oversees the expansion, cataloging
and maintenance of the slides and digital image files; ensures that slide
and digital projection equipment and media are in good repair; maintains
course web pages; and hires, trains and supervises the center’s student
assistants.  With input from the faculty, the curator develops and maintains
materials sufficient to meet the teaching and research needs of the
department as well as those of the wider university community.  The curator
is expected to participate in activities of professional organizations.

Qualifications:
Requires a Master’s degree in Art History, an M.L.S. or related degree and
three years of related experience.  Additional experience may be used on a
one to one basis to offset the educational requirements.  The candidate must
have a working knowledge of visual image cataloging procedures and
management, library systems and practices, and the development and
maintenance of digital imaging media and databases.  The candidate must have
proven experience in data management software such as FileMaker Pro and
Photoshop, web page maintenance and PowerPoint.  The candidate must be
familiar with copyright issues related to visual resources management.  The
candidate must have proven experience in collections of slide and digital
images in an academic museum, library or analogous work environment.  The
candidate must have proven communication and interpersonal skills and have
the ability to work effectively and enthusiastically with a diverse
community of faculty, students, administration and staff.  Reading knowledge
of French, German and/or other foreign languages is desirable.  Supervisory
experience is desirable.
