Southwestern University and The Sarofim School of Fine Arts invites applications for the position of Visual Resources Librarian in the Department of Art and Art History.  This is a full-time, 12-month, professional-level, staff position with benefits.
Southwestern's visual resources collection serves the teaching and study needs of the Art History and Studio Arts program.  The art department offers majors and minors in Studio Art and Art History and a minor in Architecture and Design.
Responsibilities include:  oversee digitizing (scanning and data entry) of existing slides; create, label, and mask any new slides needed; manage circulation of slide collection; locate misfiled slides; clean and maintain old slides; order materials for slide processing and maintain all slide projector equipment; manage transition from "analog" to digital collection; and direct the work of student workers.
Qualifications:  Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree, a major or minor in Art History strongly preferred; two years prior work or educational experience in a related position; basic knowledge of photography, both film and digital; and excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Photo Shop, and File Maker Pro).  Excellent organization and communication skills are essential.  A Master's degree in Library Science and prior experience in a higher education environment or archival position is preferred.
