Error during command authentication.

Fellow catalogers:

 

            At the recent Art Libraries Society of North America annual conference in Houston, catalogers spoke of the need for a repository of sorts for local cataloging documentation, and I was asked to put out a call on the ARLIS-L and AUTOCAT lists to solicit such documentation, which would be compiled and made available on the Cataloging Section page of the ARLIS/NA website.  The Cataloging Section area of the ARLIS/NA Website and Sherman Clarke’s Art Cataloging Website already contain many links to art cataloging resources.

 

This new initiative seeks to bring to light specific “how-to” documents and the like. Some examples might include: How to catalog an offprint; how to catalog an analytic; how to catalog a manuscript facsimile; how to catalog an artist’s book; how to catalog electronic resources. Those sorts of things.

 

If you have such material at hand or know where it might be located, send me an email to let me know. Information in the form of Word documents, PDF files, WWW addresses are most welcome, but you can also send me print material via snail mail or fax. Please indicate whether or not if you wish to have your name and/or affiliation attached to the documentation if and when it’s posted on the Web. All contributions are welcome, from long documents to simple “aide mémoires.”  Please send information to me off-list and I’ll summarize and give a heads-up once the compilation is Web-ready.
