Position:
Library Assistant / Cataloging & Serials
Bard
Graduate Center Library
The Bard
Graduate Center offers MA and PhD programs in the history of the decorative and
applied arts; cultural and design history; museum history and practice; and
garden history and landscape design.
The
library collection comprises approximately 40,000 volumes of monographs, rare
books, auction catalogs and bound periodicals. The library subscribes to nearly 300
serials. The staff is made up of 3
professionals, 2 library assistants, and student employees. This position reports to the Chief
Librarian.

Perform
copy cataloging under the supervision of the Technical Services
Librarian.
·
Library
catalog database maintenance
·
Serials
maintenance including: checking-in of new issues, claiming missing issues,
running claim cycles and reports, preparing materials for the bindery and
pursuing back issues.
·
Assist
with interlibrary loan processing.
·
Other
duties as assigned.
·
Bachelor’s
degree with at least 2 years of library experience. Coursework toward MLS
preferred.
·
Familiarity
with standard cataloging procedures:
AACR2R and LC classification
·
Experience
with integrated library systems (Innovative Interfaces and RLIN
preferred)
·
Experience
with ABLE software and serials maintenance a plus.
·
Working
knowledge of 1 or more foreign languages preferred.
