The John Michael Kohler Arts Center, a nationally acclaimed visual and performing arts complex in Sheboygan, WI seeks a Resource Center Image Archivist for its small arts library. The 99,000-square-foot Arts Center is comprised of eleven galleries, studio-classrooms, two performance spaces, theatre, retail shop, café, and sculpture gardens. The Resource Center houses books, catalogues, and periodicals, along with an extensive video, audio, and slide collection. The image archivist will work with the Resource Center librarian on the general organization and cataloguing of both slide and digital images. Responsibilities include creating extensive image metadata associated with exhibition images, both digital and slide form, and with images related to other Arts Center programming; working with programming staff to assist them in creating digital presentations on various aspects of Arts Center programming; as well as helping with general Resource Center needs such as book and periodical cataloguing. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of current library systems and technologies and particular knowledge of digital imaging systems. A motivated person who can work independently, with exceptional organizational skills and a keen attention to detail is essential. B.A. in art, art history, information systems/library science, or Museums Studies or comparable experience working in these fields is required. Part-time position 20/week.
