Position: Assistant Librarian for Archives and Special Collections

Reports to: Director of the Library and Research Center
Summary of Position:
The Assistant Librarian for Archives and Special Collections administers and maintains the National Museum of Women in the Arts’ Institutional Archives in accordance with standard archival practices. Responsibilities include: evaluating museum records for permanent retention and updating retention schedule; establishing and executing written policies regarding acquisitions, donations, access, and preservation of archival materials; processing, arranging, and creating finding aids for special collections housed in Library and Research Center; providing reference service to museum staff and outside researchers; creating and updating materials to inform staff and public of museum history, including museum timeline and exhibition history; helping to identify funding opportunities for archives projects, and assisting with proposal writing; and participating as member of project team to develop museum’s online Database of Women Artists.
