TECHNICAL SERVICES LIBRARIAN The John M. Flaxman Library of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago seeks an experienced, creative, and highly motivated individual for the position of Technical Services Librarian. DUTIES: Plans, supervises, and participates in the work of the Technical Services team including: cataloging, classification, serials management, acquisitions, fund accounting, bibliographic computer services, software management, and access to digital resources. Provides leadership in ensuring that these activities are carried out to professional standards, and in a service-oriented manner that meets the needs of the campus community. Responsible for developing and assessing Technical Services policies, workflow, and staffing. Supervises 3 full-time librarians, 1 full-time staff, plus student assistants; reports to Library Director. QUALIFICATIONS: Record of achievement in areas of duty described above, including at least 3 years of increasingly responsible experience in an administrative Technical Services position. ALA-accredited MLIS. DESIRED: Experience with unique materials such as artists’ books and 16mm films; digital asset management; participation in large-scale library consortia; utilization and administration of OCLC and Voyager systems; knowledge of contemporary art STARTING SALARY: Low to mid 50’s.
