Candido Portinari - Catalogue Raisonné
The Portinari Project is pleased to announce the highly-anticipated publication of the Catalogue Raisonné of the Brazilian painter Candido Portinari (1903-1062), presenting 4,991 works (prints, drawings and paintings) from all periods of the artist’s oeuvre. It is the first catalogue raisonné of this scale to be published for a Latin American artist. It is also the first publication of its kind to be produced, printed and distributed in Latin America. Each of Portinari’s works are traced across Brazil and 20 other countries in the three Americas, Europe and the Middle East. The entries are in chronological order, each one includes a color illustration, technical data, and whenever appropriate, bibliographical information and a history of exhibitions and auctions. The work also comprises a detailed chrono-biography of the artists’ life and times obtained through research done on 30,000 documents.
Distributed in the United States for the Foundation Portinari by Howard Karno Books, Inc.
