Apologies for cross-posting....

Dear ARLIS members,

Individuals in the greater New York metropolitan area are welcome to join us for the following program.

The spring meeting of the METRO DigiSIG will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at METRO Headquarters (57 E. 11th  Street, 4th floor) from 6:15 to 8:15.

Deborah Wythe of the Brooklyn Museum Archives, will talk about the search for a "simple and sustainable" model for creating, managing, and presenting digital images created during a multi-year Mellon Foundation funded project to make museum archives resources more accessible to scholars.  Ms. Wythe is Archivist & Manager of Special Library Collections, at the Brooklyn Museum Libraries & Archives.

Carrie Bickner-Zeldman will discuss approaches for evaluating and selecting digital asset management systems and software, and comment briefly on the recent launching of the NYPL Digital Gallery and the African-American Migration Experience web sites.   Ms. Bickner-Zeldman is Assistant Director for Technology, Digital Library Program, New York Public Library, The Research Libraries.   Public access to the NYPL Digital Gallery was made available March 3, 2005 and can be viewed at: http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/.
