Individuals in the greater New York metropolitan area are welcome to
join us for the following program.
The spring meeting of the
METRO DigiSIG will be held Wednesday, May 18,
2005 at METRO Headquarters (57 E. 11th Street, 4th floor) from 6:15 to
8:15.
Deborah Wythe of the
Brooklyn Museum Archives, will talk about the
search for a "simple and sustainable" model for creating, managing, and
presenting digital images created during a multi-year Mellon Foundation
funded project to make museum archives resources more accessible to
scholars.
Ms. Wythe is Archivist & Manager of Special Library Collections, at
the Brooklyn Museum Libraries & Archives.
Carrie Bickner-Zeldman will
discuss approaches for evaluating and
selecting digital asset management systems and software, and comment
briefly on the recent launching of the NYPL Digital Gallery and the
African-American Migration Experience web sites. Ms. Bickner-Zeldman
is Assistant Director for Technology, Digital Library Program, New
York Public Library, The Research Libraries. Public access to the
NYPL Digital Gallery was made available March 3, 2005 and can be
viewed at: http://digitalgallery.nypl.org/.
