Dear Friends,
It occurred to me, at this late date, to explain my absence from this
year's conference. My dear mother-in-law has been gravely ill and is now
reaching the end. We have her at home with lots of professional help and
family about, so it was an easy decision that my place is here, rather than
with ya'll in Houston. Please know that I'm still sponsoring a travel
award, and will see you all in Banff next year. All my best for a great
conference!
