Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA)
 Position Description:  ARLIS/NA Web Site (AWS) News & Features Editor

Appointment:  Appointed by and reporting to the President for a two year, renewable, term.  This position works with the AWS Editor and participates on the Publications Committee; collaboration with other ARLIS/NA editors is expected.

Essential Function:  To compile, for dissemination on the AWS, information of value for librarians, visual resources curators, students, teachers, and vendors with interests in the arts and ARLIS/NA.  Contents to include, but not restricted to, events, programs, awards, publications, member features, obituaries, and professional notes.  Monthly updates will be the norm, with more frequent postings expected for time-sensitive information.

Responsibilities: 
1.      Acquire and copy edit, according to Chicago Manual of Style standards, announcements from ARLIS/NA and its subsidiary groups
2.      Establish calendar and administer submissions provided by Bibliographic Notes Editor, Division, Section, Roundtable, Committee, and Chapter contributors 
3.      Seek new content features and regularize procedures for submission 
4.      Delete outdated materials and archive items according to established protocols 
5.      Select notices from listserves and websites supported by professional and scholarly agencies with which ARLIS/NA has affiliation or common interests
6.      With AWS Editor, establish procedures for uploading, revising, and deleting content on the AWS server

Qualifications:
1.      Membership in ARLIS/NA for at least two years
2.      Skills in, and demonstrated experience with, copy editing
3.      Experience in carrying out and overseeing delegated functions on a timetable
4.      Ability to respond promptly to requests for updates
5.      Familiarity with online document and website tools, such as pdf,  XML, and ftp

Expectations:
1.      Attendance at the ARLIS/NA annual conference
2.      Active involvement in the Society's working groups and/or regional chapters 
3.      Involvement in additional professional societies  
4.      Creativity and participation in expansion and enrichment of AWS

Honorarium:  $1000 per year
