> The Library and Research Center at the National Museum of Women in the
> Arts is offering two Internships to assist with the Database of Women
> Artists Web Access Project. This is an opportunity for college and
> graduate students considering a career in museums, libraries or new
> media to gain real-world experience working on an innovative project
> that aims to increase accessibility via the internet to the museum's
> archival resources. Over the course of the internship(s), interns can
> expect to gain valuable knowledge about women artists, both
> contemporary and historical; increase skills in Information Technology
> and research; and experience working as part of a dynamic project

> Interns will work on the Database of Women Artists Web Access Project.
> Activities include but are not limited to:
> 
> *     Assisting with the research of 300 core women artists from
> NMWA's permanent collection. 
> *     Assisting with data/content analysis of the archival collection:
> expanding information through research; contacting artists to update
> biographical information as appropriate; fact-checking; editing and
> collating information.
> *     Assisting with the creation and entry of content into the new
> database, following cataloguing standards, and undertaking artist
> authority work.
> 
> Candidates for internships must have completed their sophomore year of
> undergraduate study, and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point
> average. We encourage applications from students studying art history
> and/or library science and who have strong computer skills, enjoy
> working independently and undertaking research, are detail-oriented,
> and who have an interest in women artists/women's issues. 
> 
> Applications for these internships must include the following:
> 
> 1.    A cover letter stating your interest and what skills and
> experiences you would bring to the internship, and how you believe the
> internship will further your personal and professional goals. Please
> specify that you are applying for the LRC Database of Women Artists
> internship(s), as other museum departments also offer internships.
> 2.    A resume including your education and employment history.
> 3.    Your most recent transcript.
> 4.    One academic and one personal letter of recommendation.
> 5.    A one-page writing sample.
> 
> Most internships are unpaid, but NMWA does offer one paid internship.
> For further information on the paid internship, please contact our
