Gordon Ray Cataloger (Full-time)
The Pierpont Morgan Library invites applications for the position of
Gordon Ray Cataloger in the Department of Collection Information
Systems. The Gordon Ray collection consists of printed books,
manuscripts, and graphic materials, with particular strengths in English
and French literature, and French and English book illustration. The
Gordon Ray Cataloger creates new records and/or upgrades existing
records for books, manuscripts, and graphic material, assigns accession
numbers, performs archival processing and rehousing, and performs
authority work as needed.
Qualifications
- ALA-accredited MLS
- Minimum of 3 years experience working as a cataloger, preferably on
special collections
- Working knowledge of AACR2 and the MARC format
- Experience with online library system required; experience with
Voyager preferred
- Liberal arts background required; background in English or French
literature preferred
- Reading knowledge of French preferred
- Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time, and to
push a loaded book truck
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience. Excellent
