Pierpont Morgan Library, New York Position Announcement Project Cataloger (Full-time) The Pierpont Morgan Library invites applications for the position of Project Cataloger for the Medieval and Renaissance Manuscripts Imaging Project. This is a full-time temporary position, funded for 3.5 years as part of the Library's collaboration with the Index of Christian Art to photograph, digitize, and describe all iconographically significant illustrations in the Library's collection of medieval and Renaissance manuscripts. The Project Cataloger is responsible for revising records created by the Index of Christian Art (ICA) to bring them into conformity with the data standards used in the Library's online catalog, CORSAIR, creating new records, based on published descriptions and curatorial files, for images of manuscripts that fall outside the scope of the Index of Christian Art project, and enriching records. Qualifications: -MLS or MLS candidate with substantial experience working with special collections -Familiarity with use and application of the MARC format and of AACR2 -A liberal arts background is required; medieval history or literature background preferred -Experience with online library system is required; experience with Voyager preferred -Proficiency working in a Microsoft Windows environment required -Strong interpersonal and written communication skills -Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience.
