The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute and Middlebury College Library and Information Services are hosts for the workshop: Basic Subject Cataloging Using LCSH.
This two-day workshop is designed to give attendees a solid foundation in the principles and practices of subject cataloging using LCSH, an introduction to the most important tools, and practice in formulating heading strings using subdivisions. It will be useful for those who are new to subject cataloging with LCSH, but who have some basic knowledge of cataloging and the MARC formats. While not designed to cover advanced or specialized topics, the course will be a useful review for experienced catalogers, especially those who supervise or train other catalogers.
Presenters will be John Mitchell, Coodinator of SACO and a member of the Cooperative Cataloging Team, Library of Congress and Lynn El-Hoshy, Senior Cataloging Policy Specialist, Library of Congress. The workshop will be held February 24 - 25, 2005 at Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vermont. Cost of the two day workshop is $100. This includes a manual, continental breakfast and lunch for both days and dinner the first night, not to mention the expert knowledge of our two presenters.
