Ardizzone - First Comprehensive Bibliography

Our recently published title, "Edward Ardizzone: A Bibliographic Commentary"
by Brian Alderson describes for the first time in a full-scale bibliography
Ardizzone's books, dust-jackets, commercial work and ephemera, with notes on
his periodical contributions, war art, prints, posters and bookplates.
Appendices reprint articles by Ardizzone himself and detail the history of
two favorite titles - "Peacock Pie" and "Peter Pan" - and reproduce Gabriel
White's memorial tribute to the artist. It includes a four-page color
section. This is an invaluable reference for anyone interested in book
illustration or children's literature. Get it today!

Edward Ardizzone (1900 - 1979) was one of the most beloved illustrators and
authors in the English -speaking word. Calling to mind Hogarth, Rowlandson,
Cruikshank and Daumier, Ardizzone's style has its roots firmly in the
traditions of the 18th and 19th centuries; his work spans the greater part
of the 20th century; illustrating (and often writing) over 200 books and
pamphlets. Perhaps often thought of as the author of the "Tim" series of
Children's Books, he wrote 5 for adults and illustrated over 150 for other
authors, including many of the classics by Charles Dickens, Mark Twain,
Robert Louis Stevenson, Dylan Thomas and others. One of his best known
paintings, 'Magic Carpet,' was chosen by UNICEF for a collection of
international Christmas cards.
