The National Gallery of Canada Library has digitised all catalogues and checklists for our exhibitions 1880-1930. At this point, we have linked the digital files to the individual records for the items in our WebOPAC (http://bibcat.gallery.ca/screens/opacmenu.html).

To see an example, you could do a title search on this phrase:

Exhibition of Canadian West Coast art : arranged

or just follow this link:

http://bibcat.gallery.ca/search~S1/t?SEARCH=Exhibition+of+Canadian+West+Coast+art+%3A+arranged&searchscope=1

As a second access point, we shall shortly be posting on our web site a full chronological list of our exhibitions back to 1880, with links to the digital files for catalogues and checklists where these are available. We are also in the process of adding links for exhibition installation photos relating to these early exhibitions.

For information on this and other digital projects at the National Gallery of Canada, see http://www.national.gallery.ca/english/default_2244.htm.

This is a really wonderful project and I congratulate the staff at DIA
in making these publications more accessible. Are there other museums
out there doing the same? If so, I would like to hear about them.

Subject: [ARLIS-L] Digitized Exhibition Catalogues

I'm pleased to announce that the early (1886-1923) DIA Exhibition
Publications are digitized and now available online. Additionally, I'd
like to thank everyone who was involved in making this project come
together, particularly Jackie Wrosch of DALNET for creating this feature
on the Library Resources page. As well as Jennifer Gustafson who
initiated the project and Danielle Kaltz who completed the seemingly
endless task of scanning.

This will be a great resource for staff as well as outside researcher,
especially while the Library & Archives' collections are in storage. An
original copy of each publication will remain available in the Reference
Collection, however this will help eliminate excessive handling of these
rare and fragile items.

Please visit the Library Resources page and click on the "Exhibition
Catalogues" tab: http://dia.dalnet.lib.mi.us/

I look forward to any feedback you might have regarding this matter.

Thank you,
Melanie E. Emerson
