Position Available Graphic Arts Cataloger The Margaret Herrick Library is seeking an organized, self-motivated individual for a full-time position in the Graphic Arts Department of the Margaret Herrick Library. The Graphic Arts Cataloger will work at the Academy=s Fairbanks Center for Motion Picture Study, located at 333 S. La Cienega Blvd. in Beverly Hills. The position is available after January 1, 2005. Job Description: The Graphic Arts Cataloger will work under the direction of the Graphic Arts Librarian to perform data cleanup of existing records in the Library’s Voyager catalog, to oversee the transfer of records from an InMagic database to the Voyager catalog and to catalog the backlog of the Library’s poster holdings. The Cataloger will assist in processing poster conservation and photography and will assume some departmental office tasks as needed. Job Requirements Include: · A master=s degree in library or information science desirable but not required. · Strong computer skills, including experience working in databases are a must. Familiarity with Voyager and InMagic databases is preferred and knowledge of Excel and Access is useful. · A strong knowledge of and interest in the history of film. · Knowledge of print and art processes is highly desirable. · Attention to detail and organized and orderly work habits. · Self-motivation and a willingness to work independently. · An ability to carefully handle fragile archival materials. · Fluent English-language communication skills. · A pleasant personality and the ability to work effectively with colleagues. · The ability to lift and move moderately heavy boxes and other objects to and from high shelving and drawers. Use of personal automobile may be required; applicants must have and maintain a valid driver=s license.
