Dear Colleagues: Can anyone identify this painting. The title is "The Sampler." In an elegantly decorated room, a woman in a green dress is seated at what I think would be called an embroidery frame. She is at the centre right of the painting. Behind her and to the left another women stands. Behind her a painting of whaqt looks like a madonna and child hangs on the wall. The furniture includes a decorated chest with a candlestick on it, a carpet, and a chair in the right foreground. Something of the feel of a Vermeer?
