Cataloger American Numismatic Society The American Numismatic Society Library seeks applicants for the position of Cataloger. Responsibilities include original and copy-cataloging of all library materials, including numismatic journal articles; maintaining and updating the library's subject heading list; ongoing editing of records in the library database; sharing in reader orientation and the supervision of part-time staff. Cataloger will also share in other library duties when Librarian is not present. The position requires an MLS/IS from an accredited ALA library school and a strong arts/humanities background. Recent work experience in an academic or museum setting preferred. Reading knowledge of French, German, and Italian. Ability to utilize AACR2, LCSH, MARC formats. Applicant should be skilled in database and internet search procedures, familiar with library website applications and possess good oral and written communication skills. The American Numismatic Society was founded in 1858. The Library has two full-time professionals and one part-time assistant. The Cataloger reports to the Librarian. Salary range: $38,000-$43,000, depending upon qualifications and experience. The Society has a liberal benefits and vacation policy. Applications will be accepted until position is filled.
