Dear Colleagues,
Thanks to the coooperative efforts of the Archives Services Center,
University Library System at the University of Pittsburgh; the Heinz
History Center; and the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh
a new web site of historic Pittsburgh photographs is now available. The
Image Collections Web Site is available at
images.library.pitt.edu/pghphotos.
The images were created by local photographers as well as well-known
artists like Clyde Hare, Luke Swank, W. Eugene Smith and Charles "Teenie"
Harris. Other images in the collection were produced by nationally known
figures such as Dorothea Lang and Walker Evans when they worked for a
photographic project coordinated by Roy Stryker during the Great
Depression.
