CALL FOR APPLICATIONS – DEADLINE OCTOBER 1, 2004

The Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) is now accepting applications for its annual Internship Award. The ARLIS/NA Internship Program provides financial support for students preparing for a career in art librarianship or visual resource curatorship. This award grants $1,000.00 to support a period of internship in an art library or visual resources collection.

 

Who May Apply: Students currently enrolled in, or having completed within the last 12 months, a graduate program in library science, art history, studio art or museum studies may apply for the award.

 

Internship Description: Once an award recipient has been selected, he or she will select an institution to act as host for the internship. This institution must be approved by the ARLIS/NA Professional Development Committee. ARLIS/NA is not responsible for matching candidates with a host institution, but may assist in the process.  This Internship Award will be granted for the 2004-2005 academic year. The intern will work on-site a minimum of 10 hours per week to complete a total of at least 150 hours. 

 

How to Apply: To apply for the award, please submit a 1) a resume, 2) a scan, photocopy or fax of your current transcript [does not have to be official, but should be non-editable], 3) an essay of 250 words or less addressing your professional goals, expectations of the internship experience, and any skills or experience you have that might benefit an art or visual resources library, and 4) the names of two professional or scholastic references with addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses. Application materials in electronic form are preferred and should be submitted to all of the members of the Professional Development Committee listed at the end of this notice.

October 1, 2004 - Deadline for submission of applications to Professional Development Committee

November 5, 2004 - Professional Development Committee selects award recipient for the 2004-2005 academic year
