Clemson University Libraries Position Announcement Branch Unit Head, Emery A.Gunnin Architecture Library Clemson University Libraries and the College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities are seeking an innovative and enthusiastic librarian with a strong service orientation to lead the Gunnin Architecture Library, a branch of the Clemson University Libraries. This tenure-track faculty position is responsible for the daily operation and administration of the Gunnin Architecture Library, which is open 24 hours during the school year and includes a Media Resources Center and a Printing Facility. RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan and administer the programs and daily operations of the Gunnin Architecture Library. Supervise, train, and evaluate the employees of the branch, including one additional professional librarian, six support staff, and student assistants. Assist with reference service and library instruction and oversee collection development in conjunction with the Visual Resources/Reference Librarian. Serve as a liaison for the School of Architecture and the Departments of Art, Construction Science and Management, and Planning and Landscape Architecture. Participate in library and university activities, including the University Libraries Administrative Council and various other committees. As a library faculty member, the Branch Unit Head is expected to make continual progress toward tenure and promotion. This will include participation in continuing education, professional associations, service, and/or research. This position reports to the Dean of the University Libraries. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program; bachelor's degree in architecture, art, planning, or other related field; excellent communication skills; strong service orientation; proficiency in use of emerging information technologies; potential for meeting requirements for tenure and promotion. Preferred: Supervisory experience, experience in architectural materials/media; experience in Web page design. SALARY AND BENEFITS: Minimum salary of $45,000; appointment salary will depend upon qualifications; faculty rank, privileges, and responsibilities; 12 month tenure-track position; SC, TIAA-CREF, and other retirement plans available; various medical and dental plans; 18 days annual leave, 15 days sick leave, 12 paid holidays, liberal professional development leave. The University offers employees up to four credit hours of free tuition per semester. LIBRARY: Clemson University Libraries have a staff of 33 librarians and 70 support staff. The Libraries are committed to the creative integration of technology with traditional information services. The Gunnin Architecture Library has one additional professional librarian, six support staff, and student assistants.
