Modernity and Contemporaneity:  Antinomies of Art and Culture After the 
Twentieth Century

A conference on contemporary art will be held November 4-6, 2004 at the 
Carnegie Museum of Art Lecture Hall.  It is timed to coincide with the 
54th Carnegie International (opening in October 2004.

The conference is planned by Profs. Terry E. Smith (University of 
Pittsburgh) and Okwui Enwezor (curator of Documenta 11).
