P/T Assistant Librarian Job Description
The Part-Time Assistant Librarian will report to the Director of the Library
of the New York School of Interior Design. The chief responsibilities of
this position will be working on special projects including the cataloging
of images for NYSID's IDOL (Interior Design Online) Database, cataloging
auction sales catalogs and filling in for library staff on day to day
matters such as circulation and basic reference.
Requirements: An ALA-accredited MLS, knowledge of and experience with
cataloging rules (AACR2, LCSH, AAT).
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience with image cataloging
and an understanding of digital asset management systems, VRA core metadata
standards, digital imaging and Photoshop. He or she will have college level
or commensurate experience in design, art, architecture or art history.
Experience in an academic library preferred.
