"Coming Out of the Margins: Library Services to Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual and Transgender Youth"

Workshop presented by Tracie D. Hall, American Library Association Office for Diversity

 

Intended for librarians and educators, this workshop will explore building inclusive library collections and outreach services to meet the needs of GLBT and sexually questioning youth, with special attention paid to the needs of youth from low-income, racial/ethnic minority and new immigrant backgrounds. The objective of this workshop is to provide participants with critical resource materials and programming ideas for use in school and public libraries, as well as community and social service centers.

WHAT: SMYHL 2004 - "Sexual Minority Youth in the Heartland"- a weekend
conference for youth-serving professionals (teachers, guidance
counselors, coaches, librarians, social workers, etc.) who seek to be
more sensitive to and supportive of glbt youth. A variety of workshops on a
host of glbt issues. Special focus: glbt youth of color.
