Dear Colleagues,

A faculty member is trying to locate an image of St. Ignatious and the Virgin, as described in  Katherine Anne Porter's story, "Virgin Violeta."

“'Pious Interview between the Most Holy Virgin Queen of Heaven and Her Faithful Servant St. Ignatius Loyola,' reads the thin metal plate on the carved and gilded frame.  The Virgin, with enameled face set in a detached simper, forehead bald of eyebrows, extended one hand remotely over the tonsured head of the saint, who groveled in a wooden posture of ecstasy."

The image, if it exists and is not fiction, is likely by a Mexican artist.  With the help of  a colleague at Library of Congress, I located two images by Miguel Cabrera, but the images did not match this description.

If anyone has any suggestions, I will be most appreciative.

Thank you.
