Reference / Instruction Librarian

Seeks a service-oriented and innovative librarian to work as a member of a pro-active team dedicated to providing excellent reference and instruction services. Includes some evening and occasional Saturday hours.

Reference/instruction duties (60%) Provide general reference services and in-depth reference services in subject areas reflecting The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale’s curriculum.  Participate with other librarians to provide general and specialized instruction to students. 

Technical duties (15%) Responsible for ILL borrowing and lending (a minimal volume of ILL is experienced at this library).  Previous experience in this area is not necessary.

Liaison duties (25%)Serve as a liaison to academic departments in assigned subject areas.  Participate in collection development activities in designated subject areas (i.e. selection, evaluation, and deselection of library materials)

Qualifications:

An MLS (MLIS) from an ALA accredited library school.  Flexibility and ability to flourish in a rapidly changing environment; ability to work effectively in small group and team environments; strong commitment to patron service; advanced reference skills and proficiency in using information sources.
