Meaningful Measurement Systems:
Linking Performance Measures from Organizational through to Employees

Rebecca Jones has an extensive background as a facilitator and consultant as well as a reference specialist, corporate information manager, and trainer. She has been a librarian since 1981 and is a principal of Dysart & Jones Associates (D&J).

Too often organizations develop one set of performance measures for customer satisfaction, another for operations and yet another for individual employees - with no common thread binding them together. As the old adage says, "what gets measured gets done." A meaningful measurement system focuses attention on what is being done, what is most important for the organization and ensures that all measures are clearly linked with no disconnects or gaps. This seminar distinguishes the various types of measures that need to be integrated into a performance measurement system, and helps you define the types of measures most important for your organization - from your operations through to every employee.

Critical Learning Questions

1. How do determine what performance measures are appropriate for your organization?
2. What are the 'options' in terms of performance measures?
3. What's involved in developing & implementing a meaningful measurement system?

The Influential Networker:  Networking to Get Things Done

This seminar will discuss how to do a network assessment. It will provide advice on how to grow and maintain your networks. The course will also address cross-network networking. It will help the participant identify the type of decision-making process that will be used in order to build the strategy to influence it. You will learn how to build a power map of an organization, discuss how to build alliances and also how to avoid behavior that undermines the trust you have built and weakens your ability to influence others.

Targeted Learners
This presentation is targeted towards those who are seeking to develop their personal and professional leadership skills. It is for those who already are aware that networking is valuable and are ready to move on to how to influence a network and how to maximize the use of the variety of networks one belongs to. The course materials are at the intermediate level.

Critical learning questions:

1. How do I build and grow my networks?
2. How do I maximize the use of my contacts?
3. What is influence and how do I get and keep it?
4. What strategies do I use to exercise influence in a decision-making process?
