Librarian: Seattle Asian Art Museum, part-time 

The Seattle Art Museum seeks a Librarian for 15 hours per week to oversee the McCaw Foundation Library at the Seattle Asian Art Museum. Library hours are: Thursdays 1-8pm, Fridays and Saturdays 1-5pm. The library supports the needs of Museum staff and collection; the museum's docents and educational programs; the publication programs of the museum; and all other museum activities as required. The Librarian may also have the opportunity to supervise volunteers and an intern. The Librarian reports to the Head Librarian at the Seattle Art Museum.

Responsibilities include: collection development and management, reference services, cataloging and technical services, research support for staff, docents, students, scholars and the general public, budget support, and evaluation of library needs and long-range planning.

Qualifications include: MLIS or equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited institution (or equivalent professional experience), proficiency with alphabetic transcription/Romanization of Chinese (Pin Yin system) or Japanese (Romanji system), familiarity with current library procedures, familiarity with current cataloging practices and procedures; familiarity with art/art history (Asian art preferred), two years experience working in a library or similar setting.
