The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art is announcing two 12-month, post-graduate fellowships designed to enable recent recipients of a master’s or doctoral degree in the arts, arts administration, or museum studies to prepare for careers in museum management and administration, or museum education and curatorial careers.

 

The Curatorial Fellow will work as special assistant to the Curator of Circus and Archives, and will assist in the coordination between exhibition designers and museum staff in preparation for Tibbals Learning Center opening in late 2005.  Fellow will participate in projects relating to publications, donor cultivation, exhibit installation, and administrative duties.

 

The Registration Fellow will work as special assistant to the Registrar and will assist in implementation of the museum collections management system database by reviewing database fields and coordinating issues with Registration. Fellow will have hands-on experience with regard to the exhibition processing, loans, acquisitions, and deaccessions, logistics planning for couriers, reproduction and copyright issues, and collections management.

 

Excellent writing skills, organizational abilities and positive attitude are required.  Presentation and research skills and knowledge of computer systems, digitization and database knowledge will be important factors in consideration of applicants.
