Dear colleagues,

Are you looking for an opportunity to publish? Is the tenure clock
ticking away, reminding you that you need to include more publications in
you file? Do you have an idea related to art and design librarianship
that you've been aching to develop? The Art Libraries Society of North
American (ARLIS/NA) may provide just the right opportunity for you.

Proposals for titles in the society's Occasional Papers series are
invited. These are some suggestions for topics:
Library instruction for students in design disciplines (including
exercises). (This would be a second volume to Occasional Paper No. 13,
Library Instruction for Students in Design Disciplines: Scenarios,
Exercises and Techniques, edited by Jeanne M. Brown.)
A survey of art and design librarians' salaries. (There is already one
author interested, and co-authorship is a real possibility.)
A survey of software for visual resources collections.
Art museum library handbook.
Cataloging architectural documents.
All ideas are welcome, however. Proposals submitted to me by April 1,
2004 will be given first consideration and will be on the agenda of the
publication committee's annual meeting in mid-April.

For proposal guidelines, please consult the ARLIS/NA Web site's
"Guidelines for Authors and Editors," paragraph 3, Procedures for
Submitting a Prospectus, http://www.arlisna.org/op_guide.html. Feel free
to contact me if you are interested and have any questions.
