Late last year, I confided to the museum's administration my plan to take
early retirement in 2004. April 30 will therefore be my final day as Head
Librarian at the Cleveland Museum of Art. While I don't favor broadcasting
personal news on a listserv, this seemed the most efficient way to announce
this to my friends and other colleagues in ARLIS/NA. My ties to ARLIS are
actually longer than my ties to this museum since I joined as soon as it was
founded when I was still Head Librarian at the St. Louis Art Museum. In
all, I have worked in art museum libraries for over 41 years and can't
imagine a better way to have spent one's working life. Now I look forward
to the next phase of activity. I won't attend the New York meeting in April
but I intend to keep my ARLIS membership and may still show up occasionally.
