For the New Testament, there are 3 scholarly resources - which will
lead you to Biblical source and artistic representation.
Schiller, Gertrud. Iconography of Christian Art. 2 volume English edition;
and the more comprehensive German edition: Ikonographie der
christlichen Kunst 5v. in 8.
Reau, Louis. Iconographie de l'art chretien. 3v. in 6.
If your library can take on new subscriptions, the Index to Christian Art
Database - the online version of the Princeton Index to Christian Art
begun by C. R. Morey would be a wonderful resource.
