POSITION AVAILABLE: Editor, ARLIS/NA Web site (two-year term, renewable)
Essential function:
Manage, revise, and update all pages of the society's Web site
Reports to:
ARLIS/NA president
Responsibilities:
§ In concert with the Executive Board and Publications Committee, make recommendations on the design, format and structure of the Society's Web site
§ Develop content guidelines
§ Serve as primary contact for receipt and review of all files from committees, divisions, sections & roundtables
§ Convert to hypertext markup language all executive board & administrative documents
§ Respond to Web site-related questions from members and others
§ Edit & update Web site information regularly
§ Maintain basic information for society events, e.g., annual conference
§ Compose Web site files, including page design, text mark-up & image processing, ensuring that files are readable
§ Provide copy editing for contributed text as necessary
§ Check internal and external hyperlinks for accuracy and currency
§ Make revisions and additions promptly and accurately
§ Serve on Publications Committee
§ Serve as liaison to Webmaster concerning special requirements, e.g., online forms, sub-directories on the server, members' area authentication
§ Serve as liaison to Webmasters within (e.g., chapter, group, conference) and outside the society
§ Participate in discussion on Web site developments, e.g., electronic publishing
Qualifications:
§ Experience with html editing software, e.g., Frontpage, Dreamweaver, and background knowledge of HTML coding
§ Design and layout skills
§ Copy editing abilities (spelling, punctuation, grammar)
§ Accuracy and an eye for detail
§ Ability to respond promptly to requests for updates
Honorarium:
§ $1,000 annually
