Monday, April 19th
6.30 pm-8 pm
The President and Executive Board of ARLIS/NA cordially invite you to attend
a benefit cocktail reception at the home of Agnes Gund and Daniel Shapiro,
765 Park Avenue.
Your contribution of a minimum of US$150 to the ARLIS/NA Internship Award
Fund provides financial support for students preparing for a career in art
librarianship or visual resource curatorship.
Agnes Gund and Daniel Shapiro, prominent collectors of modern and
contemporary art, have graciously provided ARLIS/NA the opportunity to
augment the Internship Award Fund by hosting this reception and viewing.
Their unique collection includes art from the 1940s through the present as
well as West African and Chinese terra cottas and early Chinese bronzes.
Ms. Gund is President Emerita of The Museum of Modern Art and is currently
Chairman of the Museum's International Council. She has also served as Chair
of the Trustee Committee on Museum Archives, Library, and Research and was a
founding co-chair of the Museum's Library Council. Mr. Shapiro is an art law
and cultural properties attorney in private practice.
Attendees will also have the chance to greet Christo and Jeanne-Claude
following their Plenary Session discussing Two Works in Progress: The
Gates, Project for Central Park, New York City and Over the River, Project
for the Arkansas River, State of Colorado.
We hope you will enthusiastically support this special event celebrating the
best of art and professional development.
