The Northern California Chapters of VRA and ARLIS would like to invite you to our joint meeting on Friday, December 12, 2003 at the University of California, Berkeley, Wurster Hall, Rm. 305 (3rd floor).  The schedule for the meeting is as follows:

9:00-9:30 - Meet & Greet (coffee, tea, juice and snacks provided)
9:30-10:30 - Chapter Business Meetings
Presentations:
10:30-11:00 - Mary Elings, UC Berkeley - Current Metadata Issues (including XML and imaging metadata schemas)
11:00-11:45 - Robin Chandler, California Digital Library - CDL's Image Demonstrator Project
11:45-12:30 - Jason Baker, Berkeley Art Museum & Pacific Film Archive - Demonstration of DAMD (Digital Asset Management Database)
12:30-2:00 - Lunch and discussion at BAM's Café Muse
2:00 - 3:30 - Tours of the Environmental Design Library and Archives and the Architecture Visual Resources Library
3:30 - on - Tours of BAM (admission $8, open until 5:00) or Phoebe Hearst Anthropology Museum (admission $4, open until 4:30). (Tours are on your own).

Who can attend? Anyone with an interest in visual resources collections or art libraries is welcome to attend. (Please forward this message to any interested parties)

What do I need to do? You must RSVP by December 5th; in your RSVP, please state whether or not you plan to eat lunch at BAM's café so that the proper-sized space can be booked.

Parking  (http://www.berkeley.edu/visitors/parking.html) You may not park on campus.  There are a number of parking lots nearby.
* Private Lot between Bancroft Hotel and Berkeley Art Museum, on Bancroft near College.  Enter from Bancroft.
* Private Lot under Copy Central, on Bancroft between Bowditch and Telegraph.
* City of Berkeley Sather Gate Garage, located on Durant between Dana and Telegraph (southside of campus). Enter from Channing Way or Durant Ave.
* University of California Student Union Garage, located on Bancroft just West of Telegraph (southside parking).
* Street parking (not recommended)

Read all parking restriction signs carefully. The rules and times are strictly enforced by the City of Berkeley.

Public Transportation  (http://www.berkeley.edu/visitors/public_transit.html) It's a long, but pleasant walk from BART across campus to Wurster Hall.  Allow 15-20 minutes.
