Hello again everyone! We ran into a puzzle recently. We cannot tell if the same exhibition has at least two versions of the exhibition catalog depending upon which museum you order from, or if the catalogs merely have different titles. One of the Huntington's paintings is in the show, and our pre-exhibition correspondence refers to the show by more than one title. Here are the citations: Noon, Patrick. Crossing the Channel : British and French Painting in the Age of Romanticism / Patrick Noon ; with contributions from Stephen Bann ... [et al.] London : Tate Publishing, 2003. 296 pages, 31 cm. ISBN 2002116791. The RLIN record, PAUGV3444323-B includes a note that the show is at Tate Britain, London, 5 February-11 May 2003, and tours to Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Minneapolis, 8 June-7 September 2003, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 7 October 2003-4 January 2004. Information about the show on the Met's website matches this. The Met's website also states that David Blayney Brown, Christine Riding, and Marie Watteau have made contributions. Noon, Patrick. Constable to Delacroix : British Art and the French Romantics / Patrick Noon ; with contributions by Stephen Bann ... [et al.] London : Tate, 2003. 296 pages, 30 cm. ISBN 1854374591. The RLIN record CSHA03-B101 for our copy includes a note with the same exhibition itinerary and another note listing three essays by Noon, Stephen Bann, and Rachel Meredith. This information matches that on Tate Britain's website. Both websites covers picture a detail of Gericault's Raft of the Medusa, but in another section, the Met's website pictures a cover with Liberty Leading the People. Does anyone have both catalogs so we can compare them? Regards again!
