The next Catalogers' Discussion Group meeting will be held
at the temporary quarters of the Pierpont Morgan Library, on the 24th floor
of the U.S. Trust building (114 W. 47th St.).
Topics:
First, a live demonstration of CORSAIR, the Morgan's
online collections catalog, on the web as well as via the Voyager Cataloging
module. Special emphasis will be placed on the extensive locally-defined
indexes, the use of special vocabularies, and customized record
displays.
Next, a discussion of CORSAIR's supporting
documentation, including help pages, collection descriptions, and the
voluminous manuscript descriptions that are linked to bibliographic
records.
Finally, Bob DeCandido, database coordinator, will
demonstrate and discuss his work designing databases for museum collection
management functions, including Conservation, Photo Rights, and
Registrarial functions. These databases all pull data from CORSAIR
