In preparation for a forthcoming biography by Janis Londraville, I am looking for any museum or collection that may own artwork by Paul Swan. Once hailed as "America's Leonardo Da Vinci" (New York Times, circa 1930), Paul Spencer Swan (1883-1972) began his multi-faceted career by attending the Art Institute of Chicago in 1900, where he studied painting under John H. Vanderpoel (1857-1911) and sculpture under Lorado Taft (1857-1953). He was also a dancer, and had a role as an Egyptian in Cecil B. DeMille's Ten Commandments. If you have any information on Swan or know the whereabouts of any of his work, please respond offlist. Thank you. Linda R.
