Dear ARLIS/NA Colleagues, I thought that the recent and on-going endeavor within the Special Libraries Association to re-brand the organization might be of interest. A few years short of its centennial (in 2009), the SLA leadership, including its Branding Task Force, has devised two alternatives to the current name, Special Libraries Association: "Information Professionals International, Inc." or "SLA, Inc."; a vote at the upcoming Members' Meeting in New York on June 11th will determine between these two new alternatives or retention of the current name. There is some interesting information about branding, specific to the SLA and more broadly for library and information professionals, at <http://www.sla.org/content/SLA/assocbrand/index.cfm> cheers, -- jack * * * * * * * * * * * * Jack Robertson.
