ok, now i am going to weigh in. it is inevitable that the events of the
past few weeks will have an effect on most thinking human beings. in
defense of ruth thomas, her comments , i imagine, were initiated by the
horrific situation vis a vis the LIBRARY and the MUSEUM in iraq. if we
are librarians and museum folks these events should have an impact on
our lives--if for no other reason than to make us even more aware of the
need in a free society for access to the same. it doesn't seem either
surprising or out of place for some commentary about the iraq war to
surface on this listserv...in fact, many of the articles that were sent
out via the list in the past few days, have been forwarded, (i am sure i
am not the only one who has done this) as a way of alerting as many
people as possible.
well, that's about it--this war, the destruction of the cultural
heritage of the iraqi people, IS part of all our experience, or should be.
