The Visual Resources Association, Northern California Chapter, would
like to invite you to our semi-annual meeting on Friday, May 2nd at
the Chinese Historical Society of America (CHSA), 965 Clay St., San
Francisco. The meeting will include chapter business discussion
as well as summaries of workshops and sessions given at this year's
VRA national conference in Houston, TX. Summaries include:
creating digital image collections, intellectual property guidelines
for visual resources collections, and influencing skills for positive
outcomes. In the afternoon, Mr. Benjamin Chinn, who has studied
under such artists as Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, Richard Diebenkorn,
and Alberto Giacometti, will give us a tour of his new photograph
exhibition, entitled "Benjamin Chinn at Home in San
Francisco."
How much is it?: The cost of attending this meeting will
be $5, which will include admission to the CHSA and a morning snack.
We will be going for lunch to a local Chinese restaurant (vegetarian
friendly), which will cost between $10-$12/ person.
Who can attend? Anyone with an interest in managing image
collections (both digital and analog) Please forward this

Transportation & Parking
The CHSA is located at 965 Clay St., between Stockton and Powell.
It is close to the Powell St. Cable line, the 30 Stockton, 45 Union,
and 1 California. From BART: Get off at the Embarcadero station, go to
Main St. (south of Market St.) or Drumm St. (north of Market St.) to
get the #1 California bus (get the BART/Muni transfer at the station).
The outbound bus runs on Sacramento St. Get off at either
Stockton St. or Powell St., and walk one block over to Clay St.
Portsmouth Square is a nearby parking garage (0-1 hour/$2, 1-2
hours/$3, 2-3 hours/$5, 3-4 hours/$8, 4-5 hours/$11, 5-6 hours/$14,
6-7 hours/$17) Off street parking can be very limited. For
